Ricardo Rozas
Ricardo is a partner of the Firm and leads its insurance, reinsurance and transport practice group. He has a vast experience in all aspect of shipping and logistics, including, among other, bills of lading, charterparties, cargo claims, admiralty law, pollution, personal injuries, arrest of vessels, international trade and related conflict resolution, being the first Latin-American Chair of the Maritime and Land Transport Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA)(2015-16) and currently performing as advisory board member. In addition, he has significant professional experience in the field of marine and non-marine insurance and reinsurance, including assisting the global reinsurance market on a regular basis and in several flagship cases of the Chilean (re)insurance industry.
Additionally, with respect to (re)insurance he has broad experience in a variety of complex disputes and litigation with both local and international dimensions. Among others, he advises in all the related areas including but not limited to policy coverage advice, liability defence and assessment, wordings/policy structures and dealing with the Chilean compulsory adjustment procedure and the Chilean regulator (CMF), including representation of foreign reinsurers.
Ricardo graduated of the School of Law of the Catholic University of Chile (LL.B.)(1992). Admitted to the Chilean Bar in 1994. He holds a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M.) from Southampton University, U.K (1997). Additionally, he holds a postgraduate degree in Economy and Finance for lawyers from the Economics and Business Faculty at the University of Chile.
